Everyone’s talking about Kick Ass at the moment, but hiding in it’s shadow is Defendor, starring Woody Harrelson and Kat Dennings. And now I’ve taken a look at the trailer that’s just been released, my interest level has risen significantly.

Arthur Poppington is a guy that thinks he has a secret identity as the superhero Defendor. He spends his evenings hunting Captain Industry, a supervillain drug and weapons dealer that might not actually exist. He wears a costume made of sweat pants, duct tape and a boot polish mask and his weapons consist of marbles and lime juice.

You’ve really gotta check out this trailer. If only for the lime juice scene that made me spit me drink out half way across the room. I don’t think it’s going to be an all out comedy though, as the second half of the trailer seems to descend more into the realms of drama.

Defendor will have its world premiere at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 10 to 19.
