There’s been quite a few rumours doing the rounds recently about Ghostbusters 3, most notably from Sigourney Weaver in her Avatar interviews where she suggested that Bill Murray would be returning as a ghost, rather than Ghostbuster.
But that’s not all.
In an interview with MTV she gave another tidbit of information away.
I haven’t read the script, they’re sending me the script. I guess my little son Oscar who was kidnapped is a Ghostbuster, which makes me very proud. So [director] Ivan Reitman called me the other day and said he would love me to take a look at it. In a few weeks I’ll actually know what it is, though I probably won’t be able to talk about it.
Now we can start speculating if this latest bit of information is likely to be true or not, but we don’t need to.
Obsessed with Film, spotted this article in the Hollywood Reporter’s Showbizz 411. In it, Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman confirms what Weaver has said.
Reitman says a script for “G3″ is being worked on now, and all signs point to some ghost-busting for 2010. The new story combines the original characters with new ones, including Sigourney’s kid with Bill Murray, Oscar.
So Oscar will definitely be in the new film, and shooting is very likely to start next year.
As a devout Ghostbusters fanboy, I’m getting more and more excited now that I know production is likely to start soon. There has been speculation of a third film for quite some time now, and it’s great to finally have some confirmation that things are moving.
