Well it seems that for once the speculation was right. Marc Webb - director of (500) Days of Summer – will definitely be directing the Spider-Man reboot for Sony.

The news comes from NYMag (via TheMovieBlog) where they confirm that Webb will imminently be signed up to direct the franchise.

But that’s not all. They go on to say that Webb will also be directing another two Spider-Man movies after this one.

Sony must really have faith in his abilities to sign him up for the long run. What happens if he screws it up? The general opinion around the web is that he’ll have no problems with the social and emotional side of Peter Parker, but can he direct comic-book action?

I like change, and I think it’ll be refreshing to see a new spin (sorry, bad pun) on Spider-Man. But please don’t mess it up. Sam Raimi will be pretty hard to beat, so he really needs to take it in a different direction to succeed.
