Terminator Salvation

Would you watch another Terminator film if it was directed by McG again? During a BD-live chat yesterday, McG stated his intentions to direct the fifth and sixth instalments in the franchise.

The thing is, The Terminator series franchise rights have recently gone to auction (after movie studio Halycon went bankrupt), so it’s completely up for grabs at the moment. McG is not part of this sale. They’re not ‘throwing him in’, like a set of cheap car mats to the would-be buyer. So he must be pretty confident that he’s going to be hired to continue the series to make these kind of statements.

So confident that he also announced he would be bringing Sarah Connor back for the next film and giving Robert Patrick a cameo as the scientist who becomes the likeness for the T-1000 Terminator.

Now I’m not completely ‘anti McG‘. But I don’t think he deserves to direct any more Terminator movies. He had his chance with Salvation and he didn’t perform. I didn’t completely hate it, but it could have been so much better in the right hands.

So McG, step away from The Terminator and find something else to keep you occupied.
