The latest rumour that sprang out of nowhere and is buzzing around the net is that Sean Connery could possibly be reprising his role as Indiana Jones’s dad – Henry Jones – in the next instalment of the franchise.

Now I’m going to take this rumour with a huge pinch of salt. The actual report in Digital Spy quotes an unknown source as saying:

Steven Spielberg has been working on a script with George Lucas and there is an element of the story that could see Sean returning. Anything is possible in these movies and if Sean wants to return he will become central to the new story.

Read into that what you will. I’m not holding my breath. Connery had already turned down a part in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and was pronounced dead in the story. Unless they get him in for a flashback sequence, I don’t see how they can credibly write him back into the script.

Harrison Ford has now officially said he’ll come back if the script was good enough… But he said that last time and the script wasn’t good enough in my opinion.

At the end of the day, all I’m hoping is that Shia LaBeouf doesn’t return and Spielberg and Lucas don’t screw it up again! Is that too much to ask for?
