The latest trailer for Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of Shutter Island has been making it’s way around the Web and I think you should take a look.

Shutter Island is adapted from a novel by Dennis Lehane (Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone) and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a U.S. Marshall who travels to Shutter Island, a prison island in Massachusetts’ for the criminally insane, to investigate the disappearance of a murderous patient who escaped.

Now I have mixed feelings about this trailer. The film looks really good, but I feel like they’re revealing too much in this trailer. I’d have been happy if I only saw the first minute and a half.

Because it’s Martin Scorsese, and because there’s a few big names attached, most people will be expecting something weighty and Oscar worthy, but my gut instinct tells me I’ve seen this type of film before with Gothica or Silent Hill.

There’s a danger with this type of film, that it could go over the top to get some scares. And there’s a fine line between being scary and being ridiculous. I’ve got every faith in Scorsese. We’ll just have to wait and see.
