Anyone remember the quirky eighties movie Teen Wolf with Michael J. Fox? Well THR are reporting that a cast have been announced for the MTV remake.

Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien have been cast in the pilot presentation penned by “Criminal Minds” creator Jeff Davis.

Teen Wolf was one of my favourites growing up and saw many a repeat viewing. Last year I found the double-feature DVD of Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf 2, in the discount DVD section of my local supermarket and gave them another viewing hoping to relive my childhood memories. Unfortunately it hadn’t stood the test of time and really showed it’s cheesiness and low budget. My girlfriend even remarked that the wolf looks more like a monkey than a wolf. Despite this, I still find myself coming back to it now and again, and find it makes great rainy day viewing when I don’t want to watch anything too heavy.

So should there be a remake of Teen Wolf? Well I don’t think it’s some classic movie that can’t be touched, but I do think it’s unnecessary. I understand Hollywood are looking to cash in on the Vampire/Werewolf craze that Twilight has made so popular, but to me this just seems lazy.
